I have notice in school that the teachers react with somewhat subdue/force cheer whenever a female classmate of mine says she wants to pursue a military career. Instead of the joyful, good for you, you’ll make us proud. They get the errr. Yeahh. Good for you! Good luck with that! (I’m being sarcastic but from facial gesture that how it comes off, very insincere). Likewise guys trying to pick us up would become all nervous when the girl they were so smooth with says, she is in the military? I even tried it on my own father and the next thing you know, my mom comes running in asking me if I like to go shopping with her for makeup or dresses? Why are people so stigmatized by a woman in uniform, who is only trying to serve her country?
Dr. Neutron - thank you. My friends are not ugly, or brutish. They are actually pretty and are going to college, just a military college.
Thank you Ladies G man

I don't think I would mind the boot camps. But I heard some aweful things about sexual harrassements.
The reason why I am thinking of a military career is because I thought it is about team work, that it builds characters, and so that I won't have to put up with the things I currently put up with at work. (I work in a research lab)
I am also very physically fit as a female (6 mile runner) I love physical excercise and would not mind being paid to do it.
I value hard work and discipline. I hate petty politics among incompetent people who are out there to udnermine other people's work so as to distract other people from looking at their incompetency.
While this is my reasons to join, I also wonder if these are the reasons for me to NOT join depending on which female perspective I've read so far is valid.
Also I would like to apply for graduate school and have the military pays for it.
Can anyone please enlighten me on the topic?
Thank you!
Thank you for those who responded to my question. May I also know your experience with the military and your background?
Thank you!
